Online trust is becoming more structured
The Ministry of Commerce continues to develop Ma’roof Oman as a free national service for online sellers and buyers. The platform helps customers verify whether an online store has an official licence and gives licensed sellers a clearer trust signal in a market where many purchases begin on social channels.
As of February 2026, the Ministry reported 340 registered stores and 670 registration requests. That growth reflects a wider shift: customers increasingly expect to know who is selling, how to contact the business, and whether the store can be held accountable after payment.
Verification is the front door, not the full operation
A verification listing cannot compensate for missing order records, unclear returns, slow responses, or payments sent to unidentified accounts. An online store still needs consistent product information, prices, stock status, delivery terms, customer support, invoices, refund controls, and documented ownership of each order.
Use the same legal business name and contact details across the commercial registration, Ma’roof profile, website, social accounts, invoices, payment instructions, and customer messages. Inconsistency makes a legitimate business look less trustworthy.
Move orders out of chat history
Messages are useful for conversation but fragile as the only order database. Create a customer and order record when the buyer confirms. Capture the item, quantity, agreed price, delivery address, payment method, invoice, fulfilment status, and any special promise made in chat.
For returns and refunds, connect the request to the original order and inventory movement. This helps the store answer customers quickly and prevents duplicate refunds, lost stock, and mismatched sales reports.
Prepare for digital-payment and e-invoicing growth
Oman’s digital-payment volumes are rising, and VAT-registered SMEs are scheduled to enter Fawtara e-invoicing in a later rollout phase. Online sellers should therefore standardize customer, item, tax, payment, and delivery data before they need a larger integration project.
The goal is a clean path from product listing to order, invoice, payment, fulfilment, return, and report. Each step should update the same commercial record instead of creating another disconnected spreadsheet.
How ZoroBiz helps
ZoroBiz combines CRM, quotations, VAT invoices, inventory, expenses, approvals, and reports. Online sellers can move confirmed orders into structured customer and transaction records while keeping stock and finance context connected.
Ma’roof registration and legal compliance remain the seller’s responsibility. Businesses should confirm activity licences, consumer obligations, VAT requirements, and platform details through the Ministry and relevant authorities.
